Feb 19, 2012 · If you are referring to laminate covered counter tops that have 5/8" particle board as a substrate you are fine. These type counter tops have been used with cast iron sinks for decades. Use a good quality silicone caulk to set the sink in the hole you cut, by applying a 1/4 inch bead around the rim of the sink before putting it in the hole.
