Additionally, all modern web browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Chrome, and so on) include built-in FTP support as well that will do in a pinch. However, you would only be able to download content through the browser.

Generally not. The SFTP protocol is significantly different than HTTP (used by browsers) so there is no support for that. In some cases, you can view the same files using HTTP (if the SFTP files are available in HTTP root of that server), but generally, your best guess is to copy the files locally and open there.

Sep 15, 2015 · Web browsers stopped being useful FTP clients quite a while ago. Firefox and Chrome never had upload capabilities to begin with, and even though IE can upload files, its error-handling is poor. I recommend installing a real dedicated FTP client, like FileZilla, WinSCP, or WS_FTP_LE (all three are free) instead of using a web browser.
