Today CA releases ARCserve release 11.5 and introduces official support for VMware and Microsoft virtual machines backup from host OS, as stated in the Release Notes. There aren’t detailed technical explainations about this so I’ll update this post as soon as I get more documentation.

Brightstor Arcserve 11.5 I see the post from another peron regarding Veritas, sadly Arcserve doesn't have an unlock option. Dell support has told me it CA's problem and CA doesn't have an answer. We also have a 124T on a Windows 2000 server with 11.1 and it does not have this issue.

Brightstor 11.5 for Windows reached end of servce in January 2011 already. Arcserve r15 also reached End Of Service already and has no Support for W2012R2. Arcserve r16.0 is still in Service but has no Support for 2012R2

This file should unload when you stop the BrightStor ARCserve Backup Database Engine. If it doesn't you can use the NT Resource kit utility kill.exe to terminate it. Debugging The Database Engine. Modify the registry to add the following value: Brightstor ARCserve Backup Versions 9.0 \ 11.0 \ 11.1 \ 11.5
