Feb 06, 2012 · You can only transfer your Windows XP to Boot Camp if it's a Full retail license. If it's an Upgrade or OEM license you can not install XP in Boot Camp, and you will need a Full version of Windows 7 instead of a Windows 7 Upgrade.

Can someone explain to me why I can't use Windows XP on ym MacBook Air 2012? Is it something to do with the fact that windows xp down support my Macs version of UEFI or EFI? Every time I boot my USB created by bootcamp it says can't find BOOTMGR.

If you have Boot Camp drivers already installed, it will update them. If you do not have any Boot Camp drivers installed, it will install version 2.1 drivers onto your already installed Windows OS. This should fix your XP issue, since it contains the latest XP-compatible drivers. If not, your only option will probably be Windows 8 (or Windows 7).
