Mar 10, 2015 · ferdinand-paris wrote:This was discussed extensively back in the days when the Bibble Labs team were still on the job - perhaps even back in the Bibble 5 days. The Labs team were quite emphatic they they wouldn't support DNG created by the Adobe conversion tool. I don't recall the precise reasons, but they had some.

Dec 31, 2009 · I'm sorry to say this, but the persistent absence of DNG support in Bibble is rather ridiculous. Bibble was always on my personal "want-it-now" list. I like its user interface, its workflow and many of its features are simply ingenious. But the absence of DNG support (namely from Ricoh and Leica) is unforgivable.

Nov 05, 2005 · From a forum, 25 March 2006: "We have no plans to add non-native dng support. Natively written .dng files will be supported as we decide to add support for them". This irritates some users of Bibble, both those who want a DNG-based workflow, and those who want new-camera support earlier than the Bibble team can publish the necessary upgrade to ...

Sep 21, 2008 · All versions of Bibble are released for Windows, OSX and Linux. I can't imagine that changing in Bibble 5. In fact, they are adding 64 bit builds for all OSs this time around as well. The demo videos show this, as the Windows system they are using has 16GB of RAM. Sep 19, 2008 at 02:59 PM

But then I read up on the subject in the Bibble 5 forums, and it is indeed true that they do not produce *general support for DNG*, but they do provide specific support for DNG files produces in-camera. Just thought I’d let others know, so that Bibble wasn’t scrapped for that reason alone.

Thanks, that was an interesting read. It is really odd that Bibble 5 doesn't support DNGs. They support all DNGs generated by cameras (such as from the Pentax K-7) and therefore it should be very easy to extend that to generic DNG support. It almost seems they want to make a position statement against DNG …

Dec 22, 2008 · The very least they could do, as Rodney mentions, is provide support with Bibble Pro 4.xx for the newest bodies; 50D, 5D2, 90D, etc. I've had my 50D for 3+ months, and now I'm expected to wait until the end of January, which will inevitably drag on for longer than that? Bibble's support has always been second-rate, and has slipped to bottom-rung shareware levels.

Bibble 5 has many great ideas but suffers from lack of attention to the details of UI. With other programs, you can feel how each tool is in its right place to better suit the user. Bibble also suffers from the lack of DNG support, a stance I simply fail to understand considering that it’s such an often-requested feature.
