I'm currently running BE 2010 R3 running on Windows Server 2008 R2. I want to backup Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 servers and I know that BE 2010 R3 SP3 will allow backup of Servers running 2012 as according to the SP3 document: "Protection of Windows Server 2012 servers using the Agent for Windows."

May 02, 2013 · I'm finding this absolutely hard to believe, but from everything I'm reading, Symantec Backup Exec still doesn't support Windows Server 2012? I just got done migrating about 2TB's worth of data to a new Server 2012 file server.

Feb 26, 2014 · In the meantime, does anybody use Backup Exec 2010 R3 SP3 to backup a Windows 2012 system using the remote agent? If so is it effective and and are there any other issues associated with R3 SP3. Mar 27, 2012 · Installed backup exec 2010 R3 SP2 and the lastest updates. Then i attached an Tandberg Data LTO-3 drive external to the scsi card, rebooted it found it as a tape drive used the tandberg driver on a windows server 2008 R2 64 bit box.

Backup Exec 2010 R2 does not support Server 2012 at all and yes, in this instance, support means it doesn't work right. Server 2012 was added only to 2010 R3, and only with service pack 3. Additionally, storage server 2012 is technically not even supported with 2010 R3, but core, standard, datacenter, essentials, and foundation are.
