Apr 24, 2013 · The awning poles have been used in winds as high as 25 mph without harm. The material will flutter, but the arms will not bang up & down and try to destroy themselves when you use the poles and ratchet straps.

Poles are used to add more strength to the awning in winds. It is also used for the Over The Awning Strap that secures the awning down the center from wind. I do not have a picture of the pole seperate but do have the attached picture that is used for the Over The Awning strap and how it secures the middle of the awning.
