1) Autopackage is not supposed to be a replacement for rpm/dep/apt/etc. It’s mainly for third party software – the distro will still provide system programs (including GNOME/KDE). 2) The Autopackage packages are supposed to be created by the same people who write the software and downloadable from the same place as the source tarballs.
