Jun 24, 2019 · @hostingnuggets aufs-dkms is not a dependency of docker-ce, but a recommendation.You can use apt-cache show docker-ce to check that.. BTW, docker is not default to use aufs anymore; It now default prefer to use overlayfs2, which have been merged to the linux kernel mainline since 3.18. So I think the proper fix is probably for docker repository for raspbian to remove the aufs …

Jul 19, 2014 · Adding aufs support to 3.16-rc5 is little different than what is was for older kernels. Below works for Ubuntu LTS 14.04.

The new kernel has Squashfs and Initramfs support and it has installed the aufs-modules-2.6 package. * Then i put the filesystem.squashfs, vmlinuz and initramfs files in the directory of the device /live.

Warning: current kernel is not supported by the linux-image-extra-virtual package. We have no AUFS support. Consider installing the packages linux-image-virtual kernel and linux-image-extra-virtual for AUFS support. However, neither package seems to exist on Debian Jessie:

aufs is the preferred storage driver for Docker 18.06 and older, when running on Ubuntu 14.04 on kernel 3.13 which has no support for overlay2. devicemapper is supported, but requires direct-lvm for production environments, because loopback-lvm , while zero-configuration, has very poor performance.
