Oct 29, 2004 · Right, I just downloaded the driver from ATI website, which says it can support Radeon 9550 Graphic Card, however, after the installation, there's no such series listed there. They only got 9500, 9500 PRO, 9600.... So, I just chose the 9500 PRO, which I thought it should got the cloest specs as 9550.

Nov 15, 2005 · Has anyone enabled 3D support on their ATI 9550 Radeon card under linux. I have a 64 bit system with a ATI Radeon 9550 card and running Fedora Core 4. I have tried everything to get the driver recognised but have no luck. It always comes back as MESA drivers. Can anyone help me. Is anyone a linux guru here. Please reply

Jan 29, 2006 · Graphic Card: ATI Radeon 9550 (256 Mb - AGP 8x) My system OS: Fedora Core 3 (Kernel 2.6.10) Xorg 6.8 Well, first of all I have to say that the classical driver 'radeon' has not yet support for cards newer than 9500 version, so I could not use it to enable 3D acceleration. So I decided to use ATI linux driver which are ATI propietary.

Since it's closed-source, only AMD can work on it and give efficient support, and the open-source community can generally not help you with problems.

Apr 20, 2009 · The AMD chipmaker reported in March that with the release of the Catalyst 9.4 driver they wanted to discontinue support for the Linux and Windows R300/400/500 cards and focus on the new generation instead. Meanwhile AMD has released the 9.4 driver, which also supports Ubuntu 9.04.

Jan 31, 2014 · if X server does not start with driver "Ati" (first boot) change it to "vesa" and then follow the instructions on BinaryDriverHowto. On some manufacturer's cards (I think Abit, a red card) openGL doesn't work, gdb says crash happens in the driver.
