Jun 27, 2018 · Just did a ati es1000 linux dist-upgrade’ which upgraded the kernel from 2. Lubuntu is not going to be better than another Ubuntu or Fedora or Debian. If unlucky it might however also cause X11 to not start at all. If you are on an ati es1000 linux card be sure to test the “radeon” driver before denouncing it; it may well be all you need.

From what I've found on this it looks like most people treat ATI ES1000 as the Radeon 7000. This is still problematic, however, because their are no drivers around on ATI's website for the Radeon 7000. That means that this card is legacy (and it even says so on their site). So my recommendation is that you try using the open source X.Org driver.

Hi, I am using an Intel motherboard S5000VSA which hosts an Integrated graphics card ATI* ES1000. I was thinking of moving to Windows 7 Ultimate from Linux. Since I have Linux, the upgrade advisor cannot help. The compatibility center doesn't have any references to the graphics card mentioned.
