Armv7-A/R and previous architectures. Prior to Armv8-A/R, the Arm architecture distinguishes between scalar (VFP) and Advanced SIMD extension (NEON) floating-point support. Up to Armv7-A/R architecture (included), floating-point architecture is a floating-point coprocessor extension to the instruction set architectures.

I think you should stick to ARMv6 with floating point emulation, ARMv7+VFP, ARMv7+NEON. Exactly - VFP is not supported on all ARMv6 devices. So simply don't use it there. By default NDK builds armeabi target that is intended for ARMv6 devices and doesn't use VFP. armeabi-v7a builds for ARMv7 …

Vector Floating-Point support in GCC VFP is fully supported by GCC. However, you can configure some builds to default to assume no VFP support by default, in which case floating-point calculations use library code. To enable VFP support, use the following option: -mfpu=vfp, which specifies that the

VFP is the vector floating-point coprocessor extension to the ARMv7-A architecture. It provides low-cost high performance floating-point computation. VFP extends the processor functionality to provide support for the ARMv7 VFPv4 instruction set. You can configure the Cortex-A15 processor to include different combinations of support for Advanced ...

Apr 12, 2014 · Since Windows CE 6 BSP of the board does not support VFP by default, the ARM VFPv2 subproject is added to the OSDesign project in Windows CE Platform Builder. This subproject generates a replacement FPCRT.dll library which utilizes hardware floating point coprocessor. This is well documented in MSDN and some other sites.
