Jul 24, 2009 · Are there any tax breaks for noncustodial parents paying child support? It doesn't make sense to me that spousal support (alimony) is tax deductible but child support is not. If I don't spend over half of the year with my child but I can prove that I provide more than half of the support could I claim my child as a "qualifying relative?"
