Mar 17, 2019 · ATI hw older than 2x00 (anything not DX10 compatible) does not fully support the non power of two textures (and does not expose that extension). They can be created and work as long you stay within the limitation of texture rectangle textures (no mipmaps, clamp mode).

An NPOT Texture is a texture whose dimensions are not powers of 2 (Non-Power-Of-Two).In earlier hardware, there was a requirement that the dimensions of a texture were a power of two in size. NPOT textures are textures that are not restricted to powers of two.

Oct 17, 2012 · Support for non power of two (“NPOT”, i.e. arbitrary sized) textures has been in GPUs for quite a while, but the state of support can be confusing. Recent question from @rygorous : Lazyweb, <…> GL question: <…> ARB NPOT textures is fairly demanding, and texture rectangle are awkward.

The ARB extension is much less restrictive (see the texture wrap modes, the mipmappings) - there may be good reasons to support NV,EXT but not ARB npotd textures. As I see it ARB_npot is very different from NV_texture_rect and should not be confused.

GL_ARB_texture_rectangle provides support for non-power of-two textures. Here are some recommendations: If your application requires optimal texture upload performance, use GL_APPLE_client_storage and GL_APPLE_texture_range together to manage your textures.

Jul 01, 2014 · If you have an older one, it might be that your graphics card does not support non-power-of-two textures. You can test this theory by resizing one of the background images in the theme to be a square power of two (e.g. 512x512) and seeing if anything shows up.

how to detect if openGL/card supports non power of 2? Ask Question Asked 9 years, 5 months ago. ... most modern ATI boards do not support hardware NPOT2, so I'd definitely continue treating the flag as conditional, rather than assuming it and eating the performance hit. ... This means that OGL 2.0 implementations can either list or not list ARB ...
