Expected Results: A dictionary should be available with objects, properties, etc. Thunderbird should support Applescript events so scripts can control the application. At the very least, it would be nice to be able to query Thunderbird to check for new mail using Applescript.

I've only just seen this patch, but from a quick glance I'm concerned about how applications (xulrunner, non-Firefox) etc, would extend the applescript for their own uses. For example Thunderbird would want to be able to use the applescript interface to send email.

Dec 01, 2014 · The commercial email client PostBox (based on modifications to an obsolete version of Thunderbird) has AppleScript support, but I wouldn't recommend it as the company doesn't seem successful. They don't even provide support for their users anymore. 2 posts • Page 1 of 1.

Oct 14, 2012 · Thunderbird doesn't have any built-in Applescript support. This can cause problems getting some OS X applications to work with it. For example, the Mail feature in iPhoto won't work with Thunderbird since iPhoto uses Applescript to communicate with email programs.
