Mar 26, 2013 · Brought home a Samsung 51" Plasma hooked up the HDMI from Apple TV and received the "Your HDMI cable does not support HDCP". Apple TV was on when I plugged the HDMI cable in so I turned off the TV, unplugged it, and then unplugged the Apple TV. I waited 10-20 seconds, plugged in the TV and then powered on.

Nov 27, 2017 · After more problems and troubleshooting today the problem indeed ended up being the HDMI cable. I started having issues on all of the HDMI inputs of my TV so I swapped out the HDMI cable and my Apple TV works on any HDMI port including port two the HDMI/DVI (port 2)which I originally suspected as not supporting HDCP.

Dec 31, 2008 · HDCP is not on component cables so some content will not play over component in HD. HDMI does require HDCP so that works. In short, all component connections on all TVs should do that.
