Dec 13, 2018 · On Mac computers that have the Apple T2 Security Chip, pressing the power button at about the same time that you plug in the power cord can cause the Mac to enter a mode in which the fans run at full speed.Shutting down the Mac and starting it up again might not resolve the issue. To resolve the issue, reset the SMC.Your Mac should now start up and work as expected.

Oct 04, 2011 · I too have a noisy fan, it started a few months ago as a whirring hum, gentler than the sound file. But a few days ago its suddently turning into a noisy racket, I mean really really noisy, unbelievabley noisy. It happens for about the firest 10 minutes after restarting after the imac has been asleep or switched off.

Oct 16, 2019 · I just got my new iMac 5k, 3,6 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9 with 2 TB fusion-drive. It works perfect except the fan noise when idle is way too loud. I checked the fan speed and it's around the minimum possible of 1200 rpm. I've been using iMacs in the last 5 years and never experienced such a problem (none of them had ssd).
