Oct 09, 2009 · Hello, I successfully imported a 24 bit / 192 kHz WAV into iTunes 9.0 and converted it to Apple Lossless format. Now I would like to convert my file back to its original format, however the WAV converter seems to be limited to 16 bit / 48 kHz formats.

Apple Lossless supports up to 8 channels of audio at 16, 20, 24 and 32 bit depth with a maximum sample rate of 384kHz. Apple Lossless data is frequently stored within an MP4 container with the filename extension.m4a. This extension is also used by Apple for lossy AAC audio data in an MP4 container (same container, different audio encoding).Developer(s): Apple Inc.

Apple lossless is proprietory (but not limited) to Apple, ALAC is limited to 16 bits @ 44.1 khz. That is not correct. The ALAC codec will correctly handle sample rates up to 192kHz and bit depths up to 24, just like FLAC and if you play those files back with iTunes, you …

Jun 19, 2014 · The Apple TV converts everything bia Airplay 16 bit / 48kHz, which is a bit odd. Other Airplay devices (e.g. Arcam's Airdac) have 24 bit / 96+kHz internals, but will still receive that same 16 bit / 44.1kHz audio irrespective of the source format. No way round that bottleneck using Airplay alone at …

May 18, 2010 · (AAC, AIFF, Apple Lossless, MP3 or WAV) thanks. More Less. ... and at least 48 kHz. Many audiophile recordings use sample rates upwards to 192 kHz. For my audiophile downloads at 24 bits 96 kHz, the bit rate is 4608 kbps. When you consider that some of your recordings started life at that bitrate, and then were pinched down to 16 bits, 44.1 kHz ...

Aug 14, 2017 · Re: 24 bit FLAC to 16 bit ALAC (Apple Lossless) If your goal is to play in itunes and/or on an iPod or iPhone or iPad, don't convert to 44.1, instead convert to 48.000. 48k is fully supported in the entire Apple infrastructure and it eliminates the approximations needed to resample to a rate which is not an even reduction by 2.

Jan 29, 2018 · Just wanted to offer a correction: Apple headphones and the Apple Lightning to 3.5 mm AUX Adapter do not contain DACs. The DAC is a custom-built Cirrus Logic DAC inside the iPhone that can technically handle 24-bit Integer / 96kHz conversion, but iOS limits this to 48kHz. Without a separate app, you cannot store or play files above 48kHz.
