Jun 03, 2015 · 4GB is, of course, the max file size for Fat32. I think my comments about sharing and FS types still hold. One other option you might want to consider is exFat. Its supported on Mac and Windows, and even my TV! Its got very large file (128PB) and volume size support. Doesn't work out of the box with linux - but support is only an "apt-get" away ...

Apr 23, 2012 · Format the new drive on the Win 7 machine, right click on it's icon and format: exFAT. If you ever want to connect the drive to a XP machine with exFAT installed (free from Microsoft), then your looking at MBR + exFAT. If the XP machine can't install exFAT, like it's not verified, then MBR + FAT32 (MSDOS) and keep all files under 4GB in size.
