mod_authnz_ldap will search the directory for the DN specified with the Require dn directive, then, retrieve the DN and compare it with the DN retrieved from the user entry. If this directive is not set, mod_authnz_ldap simply does a string comparison. It is possible to get false negatives with this approach, but it is much faster.

Feb 26, 2008 · (9 replies) Okay, apparently, with the binary distribution of Apache 2.2 for Win32, it is not possible to initialize an SSL connection to an LDAP server using mod_ldap and mod_authnz_ldap. During startup I get: [info] LDAP: SSL support unavailable: LDAP: CA certificates cannot be set using this method, as they are stored in the registry instead.

We are using Apache 2.2.29, and trying to connect to a directory (Sun Directory Server) in ldaps. I receive the same message as mentionned in this post : [info] APR LDAP: Built with Microsoft Corporation. LDAP SDK [info] LDAP: SSL support unavailable: LDAP: CA certificates cannot be set using this method, as they are stored in the registry instead.
