May 30, 2010 · Amarok Suddenly Stops Playing MP3s I noticed today that Amarok suddenly decided to stop supporting MP3 playback. I would try to load a song in a playlist and Amarok would tell me something along the lines that it does not support the MP3 format and that Xine couldn’t play it.Author: Kevin Guertin

Jul 26, 2007 · I am running Kubuntu 6.10 & Amarok 1.44. I had libxine-extracodecs installed, and was unable to play MP3 files. I am currently able to play m4a files without any problems. When I start Amarok a box pops up that asks me if I want to install mp3 support, I say yes. If libxine-extracodecs is installed the box goes away and nothing happens.

Nov 30, 2009 · Currently I am running Fedora 12 wiht KDE as my default desktop environment. I have MP3 codec from Fluendo and I would love to use it in amarok in Fedora 12 to listen to my music. My iPod shuffle does not support the OOG file format so I am forced to use MP3 file format. Now my question is, does Amarok use the Gstreamer out of the box.
