Does anyone know if there is a way to enable AHCI/SATA mode on the Latitude D620. The onboard I/O chipset (Intel 82801 GBM - ICH7M) supports it as well as the internal SATA drive I have, but it is only running in ATA mode and I would like to take advantage of the performance improvements of the AHCI/SATA mode.

Jan 22, 2008 · Not sure if this has been posted before, but I managed to successfully enable AHCI mode after installing Windows. Here's how... AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) is present on newer Intel chipsets such as 975X (ICH7), P965 (ICH8), and P35 (ICH9). AHCI mode is enabled in the BIOS and 3 settings are commonly available: IDE, AHCI, and RAID.

May 08, 2015 · My current understanding is that XP can support AHCI, but the drivers are not on the standard installation disk so it's either slipstream a new installation CD with the drivers included or use the F6 to install a driver option. XP does not currently support Turbo Memory and we are told that there is no plan to add support.
