Dec 06, 2002 · Whenever I open a Japanese PDF with the Japanese version of Acrobat Reader, it displays correctly, but whenever I open it with the default (English-language version) there is just a blank document and an error-message telling me to install the Japanese Support Pack.

Aug 15, 2012 · You get this if using any odd characters in the upper ranges of the character set. I ran into it recently using en- and em-spaces, also had it a while back using some symbols. If you print the pdf to a new pdf you can use the Acrobat preflight tool to track down the problem characters.
