What is the User Account (listed in the System Mangement console) "Support_388945a0" used for and does it apply to use on home computers? I found this user account listed in the System Management console. It is currently deactivated. I was wondering what its purpose is and if it is applicable to being required for use on standalone home computers.

When the delegated user clicks on a link in Help and Support Services, the script executes under the security context of the Support_388945a0 account. This account has limited access to the computer and is disabled by default. However I am not sure from where this "admin$" and "sky$" came. Anyone has similar experience?

I wrote a metasploit post module for automating this called enable_support_account under post/windows/manage. It will actually overwrite the support_388945a0's RID for the one belonging to the administrator, enable the account and assign a password of your choice.

Oct 31, 2007 · Maybe the administrator account could come in handy if I can't login into Windows anymore with my normal user account but all the other accounts are a security risk and not needed at all. I therefore made the decision to remove the HelpAssistant and Support_388945a0 account and password protect the Administrator and Guest account.

Apr 20, 2015 · It is a Windows 2008 R2 server. The guest account was disabled but it appears to now be re-enabling itself every time I reboot and it has Admin and remote desktop rights. I have run every virus scan I can think of and they have all turned up nothing. Along with the guest account is a Support account named SUPPORT_388945a0.4.6/5(21)
