The <a4j:commandButton> component is very similar to JSF <h:commandButton>, the only difference is that an Ajax form submit is generated on a click and it allows dynamic rerendering after a response comes back. Figure 6.3. The <a4j: ... commandButton> already has Ajax support built-in and there is no need to add <a4j:support>.

Sep 02, 2014 · The problem is: just the simple checkbox function, without the rerendering works pretty well. But as soon as the a4j:support is rerendered, it's not working, the System.out.println() is never called. This looks so easy, but I don't know why it's not working at all! Any hint/trick? This is old environment, so JSF 1.2 only.

I'm having a little trouble getting ajax4jsf to re-render an element nested within an a4j:outputPanel. Essentially what I have is a drop-down menu with a4j:support attached that populates another drop-down when the value changes.
