The xc5000 driver needed for this WinTV-HVR-950Q is already part of the latest Linux kernel (part of v4l-dvb drivers). Analog support was merged into the mainline v4l-dvb tree on March 18, 2009. Note: In the past, the HVR-950Q has had known issues with MythTV that prevent it from working. These should be fixed with the latest version.

Jan 19, 2017 · The USB tuner doesn't seem to mount when plugged into a port, and software like VLC and TVTime don't seem to find anything. Based on info found on Linux sites, I've added to the firmware library the following: dvb-fe-sc5000-1.6.114.fw. I've also been led to believe that the latest kernels support such tuners. But I must be missing something.
