Read/extract support of ACE would be great, because then it is possible to extract and create a 7-Zip archive and eliminate the ACE archives if you so desire. Again, a weak argument for non-support. Have you ever supported 7-zip project in any tangible way, with donations, code development or document submissions, or user support?

ACE doesn't compress as well as 7z although it can decompress quite a bit faster. ACE is also closed source/proprietary so there's not built-in support in open source products (you have to use their closed source DLLs) and the main app for it, WinACE, is adware.

Jun 16, 2009 · I read in the faq: "ACE program is not compatible with the plugin interface of 7-Zip (Unace.dll works with files, but 7-Zip only allows plugins to work with abstract streams)." Can you explain the abstract streams bit cos i dint find the documentation for the plug in interface nor do i understand what exactly you refer to a abstract streams.
