Aug 06, 2014 · It was my understanding that the P4 was 32 bit whereas the AMD Athlon was 64 bit - back in the old days I did not find the "lm" string in the cpuinfo. As I do not have a CentOS 7 image handy I tried booting the machine on an Ubuntu 12.04 - 64 bit flash drive.

CentOS has multilib support. If your software is 32 bit and is a rpm, you can try to yum install it. Nels Lindquist AMD x86_64 support was provided with the CentOS 3.3 release. To my knowledge, there isn't an Itanium build. No idea if/when one is planned. Depends on the CPU and the OS. The AMD x86_64 CentOS (and RHEL) build will support 32-bit apps.
