    The bios definately supports 48bit LBA (otherwise it wouldn't support SATA drives over 137GB). Dell however doesn't sell the system with ATA drives, so it may not have officially been tested on the ATA ports, but I can't imagine that there would be a problem with that.

    Sep 08, 2008 · you may want to check your math. 48bit 2^48 LBA is 144PB which is ~96,000 1.5TB drives I can see that number of drives in perhaps some VERY large scientific data collection environments (not that SIZE of a drive but the quantity) in total (across all systems) but that's still a stretch and they would not be using 48bit but 64bit (SAS/FC/infiband et al)..
