Aug 13, 2012 · Apparently apple one year limited warranty does not cover software support. So if I want the service provider to reinstall the os x for me I will have to pay them 150 bucks. 150 bucks just to install the os is ridiculous. Another method is to purchase the apple care protection plan from apple because apple care will cover the software support also.

Jan 23, 2013 · The Online Internet Recovery system is totally independant of any information on the internal physical drive. It is available and made for reinstalling the originally included version of OS X on a Mac that may have had the drive changed to one that has no information at all on it or for completely wipeing the Total drive of all data and then reinstalling OS X.

Jul 27, 2012 · Mario try the steps in the Apple document Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck and pay attention to the fsck (file system check in Unix vernacular) and try those steps to see if your hard drive is acting up. One thing about fsck. If you get errors after the first it runs, run it again and again until you get no errors.

Dec 14, 2014 · To be clear, we’re going to focus on Internet Recovery here, but there are actually two modes of system recovery; one of which is based on a local Recovery disk partition, and the other which is called Internet Recovery, the latter being triggered if the Mac does not have a Recovery partition found or if booted directly into as shown in this walkthrough.

Is it just luck all three of these ISP's are blocking the port which communicates with Apple's servers to re-download the OS X installation file? If all of the ISP's above do in fact block the port. Which one do I need to open? I'm thinking the port needs to be opened on the actual modem/router, not the Apple AirPort Extreme?
