Apr 30, 2011 · All of the NT 32-bit clients (NT4 Workstation , Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7) support a maximum of 4GB, none of them them support any more than that. Note that some specialized versions (like Starter Editions) may support less than 4GB. John

We won’t go into details on what are the differences between x86 and x64 are, but one of the major differences is a 64-bit Windows can support more than 4GB of RAM.
