Plug one end of the phone cable into the DSL port on the back of the modem. Assuming your modem will be sharing the wall jack with a phone, plug a splitter into the wall jack first. Plug the modem's phone cord directly (no filter) into one of the jacks of the splitter. In the other jack, plug a filter and then plug your phone to the filter.

Jan 08, 2016 · I want to replace my old AT&T 3801 gateway/modem to an Ethernet only modem that can utilize the latest wireless standards. I've tried to speak with Uverse tech support but they are the worst representatives for support as they know little about technology and/or the equipment AT&T provides its customers.
