Hello, I recommend you to take a look on IPP JPEGView sample which demonstrates implementation of JPEG codec with support for lossy 12-bit compression mode.
Baseline JPEG stores images with 8 bits per color sample, in other words 8 bits/pixel for grayscale, 32 bits/pixel for CMYK, etc. Standard JPEG is 8 bit, but there is the type of JPEG that is 12-bit, although this is not common. The higher the bit depth the more information is potentially contained.

Aug 09, 2014 · libjpeg-turbo doesn't support 12-bit at all, at the moment. The way you would typically enable 12-bit is by setting BITS_IN_SAMPLE=12 in jmorecfg.h and recompiling, but I'm pretty sure that would break because other parts of the code, such as the TurboJPEG API, assume 8-bit.. libjpeg-turbo doesn't provide any performance advantage over libjpeg for 12-bit data, and it isn't possible to use ...

I am working on a project that requires processing grayscale JPEG images with 12-bit depth per pixel. Does OpenCV support 12-bit JPEG images? The 3rd party library 'libjepg' used by OpenCV supports 12-bit JPEG's but needs to be built for 12-bit support. The macro that defines 8/12-bit support is BITS_IN_JSAMPLE in jmorecfg.h under opencv/3rdparty/libjepg.
The jpeg codec in .Net 2.0 and 3.0 appears to only support baseline encoding. I've a requirement for extended (12 bit) and lossless (16 bit) encode/decode. Can anyone shed any light on what I am doing wrong or if I have it correct, point me to a library? Thanks...Chuck · …
However, this work did not address writing 8/12 bit jpeg imagery. The changes were never merged back into the official libjpeg which has experiences weak maintenance this decade. In 2009 ESRI and Surdex agreed to support work to support reading and writing 8/12 bit jpeg compressed tiff files.
This would be used in conjunction with 30-bit (10/10/10/2 or 2/10/10/10) visuals, support for which will be available in the next major releases of VirtualGL and TurboVNC. This feature would allow the TurboVNC Server to send 30-bit image...
